The BMW 520d shows how much power an efficient diesel can deliver. Its common rail injection engine produces 130 kW (177 hp) and takes it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds, while peak torque of 350 Nm at 1,750 rpm ensures rapid acceleration all the way up to the 226 km/h top speed. Fuel consumption is equally impressive - at a mere 6.1 litres per 100 kilometres.
